Anna Nesterova, Chairperson of BRICS WBA Russian Chapter, Speaks at Forum on Sustainable Development "ESG Rethink Forum 2022"
On November 9, 2022, forum on the sustainable development "ESG Rethink Forum 2022" took place in Moscow. Anna Nesterova, the Chairperson of the Russian Chapter of the BRICS Women's Business Alliance, participated as a speaker at the session "Women's role in ESG". The session was held in partnership with the Voice mag.

The agenda of the forum was the importance of rethinking the ESG strategy in the modern context and its practical use in Russia nowadays.

In the session, the speakers discussed a change in the approach to gender equality, inspiration from caring for nature in the implementation of large-scale projects, uniting women for professional development, as well as the connection of women's patterns with the environment and new habits.

Natalya Tretyak, First Vice President of Gazprombank, Maria Kolmakova, publisher of the Voice mag and creator of Eco-drink, Olga Muravyova, General Director of the confectionery factory Pobeda, Asiyat Bagatyrova, Deputy Head of the Office on Investment Climate Improvement of the Moscow Investment and Industrial Policy Department, also participated in the session of the Forum. Veronika Peshkova, UNIDO Goodwill Ambassador, moderated the session.

Anna Nesterova told about the prospects for developing cooperation on the ESG agenda within the framework of the BRICS and the role of the BRICS Women's Business Alliance in expanding the dialogue on this matter.

Anna Nesterova emphasized that the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the ESG agenda have become a common coordinate system not only for Russian companies but for the socially responsible business of the BRICS countries too. The BRICS companies start speaking about sustainability and positive impact on society and environment more often.

"This year and next year, we plan to work with partners on the subject of energy security more comprehensively and launch a dialogue for discussion of possible mechanisms that will contribute to the development of cooperation in this area, including ESG," stated the Chairperson of the Russian Chapter of the Alliance.

The Sustainable Development Forum was held against the background of the 27th UN Climate Change Conference in Sharm El Sheikh. The participants of COP 27 discuss the development of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mitigation of climate change and compensation to developing countries.
