Anna Nesterova Participates in First BRICS Sherpas/Sous-Sherpas Meeting
The First BRICS Sherpas and Sous-Sherpas Meeting was held on February 11-13 in St. Petersburg.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Russia's BRICS Sherpa Sergei Ryabkov, Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Foreign Policy Planning Department, Russia's Sous-Sherpa for BRICS Pavel Knyazev, Sherpas and Sous-Sherpas of the other BRICS members, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors Global Rus Trade Anna Nesterova and other experts.

During the meeting the participants discussed the priorities of the Russian chairmanship in BRICS, financial and energy cooperation, as well as other issues.

Anna Nesterova, presented BRICS Women's business Alliance and spoke about the relevance of female agenda in BRICS, the main stages of creation of the Alliance, its future members, structure, upcoming events, etc.

According to Goldman Sachs, the equal participation of men and women in the economic processes of the BRICS countries can accelerate GDP growth to average 0.8% per year. Currently, the main mechanism for the development of business cooperation between the BRICS countries is BRICS Business Council, represented mainly by large businesses. Female entrepreneurs of BRICS countries are mostly owners of micro, small and medium business, and the share of women-business leaders in the BRICS countries is about 30% while in the world the average rate amounts to slightly above 20%.

Anna noted that the Alliance will bring together women who founded their own small or medium business, held leadership positions in large companies, represent women's business associations or have wide experience in business management.

It is expected that the first meeting of the members of the Alliance will be held in early April in the midterm meeting of the BRICS Business Council in Moscow.
