The First BRICS Women’s Business Alliance Meeting was held on July 20 in the framework of the Russian Chairmanship in BRICS in 2020 in online format.
The participants of the meeting were women from all five BRICS countries who have founded their own businesses, occupy leadership positions in large companies, represent women’s business associations and have extensive business experience. The Russian chapter of the Alliance was represented by Anna Nesterova, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Global Rus Trade, Head of the Russian Working Group on the Digital Economy of the BRICS Business Council.
During the meeting, the participants presented their professional interests and, based on this, outlined future areas of cooperation within the Alliance. It is worth noting that the parties came to full consensus on the priority areas of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance. Members of the national chapters of the Alliance expressed their readiness to cooperate and implement joint projects in such areas as digital development and distance learning, tourism and hospitality, healthcare, food processing, creative economy, green business, light industry, etc.
At the first meeting of the Alliance, the parties additionally discussed the structure of the Alliance, organizational issues and the format of future interaction.
It is assumed that the next meeting of the Alliance will be held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Russia, where the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance will be officially established.
