On July 25, 2022 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov met with the Russian Chapter of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance in Moscow.

Anna Nesterova, Chairperson of the Russian Chapter, made a presentation on the main results of the Alliance’s work since its first inaugural meeting in July 2020 and spoke about the important events of the current year.

First, BRICS Women Innovation Contest has already been held twice under the auspices of the Alliance, with Chinese leader Xi Jinping as the ideologist and main inspirer. At the invitation of the organizers, the winners of the BRICS Women Innovation Contest are scheduled to visit China. Secondly, on June 18, a separate session of the Alliance was held at SPIEF, which attracted the interest of a huge number of people and became an important precedent for the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance.

Anna paid special attention to the key initiative of the Russian side – the creation of the Alliance platform. The website bricswomen.com, which has been functioning since 2017, will be upgraded to a full-scale platform that will become a unified information and communication tool for the women of the BRICS countries. The platform is being developed by the Russian side since 2021. It is planned to be launched under the auspices of the Russian presidency in 2024.

The parties additionally discussed the upcoming plans, as well as activities within the framework of the Russian presidency in 2024.

Members of the Russian Chapter of the Alliance Olga Belyavtseva, Lyudmila Shcherbakova, Elena Chashchina and Galina Volkova spoke about the results of the supervised working groups and presented their projects.

Sergey Ryabkov congratulated the Russian winners of the BRICS Women Innovation Contest Olga Belyavtseva, Kristina Romanovskaya and Irina Eldarkhanova, who were awarded for their achievements in the social and economic sphere, and Lyudmila Shcherbakova, who was noted for her special contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
