Diplomats in Brazil received insights into the WBA’s agenda for the year

The Women Business Alliance (WBA) held a presentation at the headquarters of the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) in Brasilia, Brazil, during the 21st Diplomatic Briefing, an exclusive event for diplomatic mission Leaders. Five representatives from the Brazilian government and 61 embassy representatives attended. The event is an annual opportunity for discussing industry priorities presented to trade representatives of embassies in Brazil. This year, due to Brazil’s role as president of the BRICS and the CNI serving as the secretariat for both the BRICS Business Council (BBC) and WBA, the meeting included an extensive dialogue about BBC, WBA, and sustainability issues related to COP 30, scheduled to take place this year in Brazil.

Speakers included Ricardo Alban, President of CNI; Frederico Lamego, Head of International Relations at CNI; Ricardo Mussa, Sustainable Business COP30 Chairperson; Monica Monteiro, WBA Chairperson; and Contanza Negri, BBC and WBA Sherpa.

WBA Chairperson Monica Monteiro presented the group’s structure aimed at promoting female economic participation and fostering cooperation among women-led businesses through collaboration for inclusive economic growth within BRICS member countries: South Africa, Brazil, Russia, India, and China. Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran were included in 2024. “The map of the women business market and the intelligence within the embassies are essential for commercial promotion that prioritizes inclusion. We all need to mobilize to bring women into the business rounds. We rely on diplomatic support to facilitate this dialogue among businesswomen not only from the BRICS countries, but globally”, stated Monteiro.

WBA’s upcoming agenda includes coordinating a hybrid event in Belo Horizonte this month. Six hundred in-person attendees and two thousand online participants are expected on March 26 and 27 for the 4th edition of WeForum – Women Entrepreneur Forum, which will bring together businesswomen from Brazil and international leaders associated with WBA – Women’s Business Alliance. The initiative aims to enhance economic participation and cooperation among women-led businesses.

The WeForum 2025 program includes lectures on Innovation, Technology, Foreign Trade, and Consumption, addressing the role of women entrepreneurs globally. Business Meetings will enable Brazilian businesswomen to connect with international partners from BRICS and Latin America. These meetings, expected to generate more than R$ 50 million in business, will focus on the fashion, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics sectors.
