Goal: to enhance the quality of healthcare services for citizens through technological solutions and to expand access to healthcare in remote and underserved areas. It is implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Population, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Brief description: As part of the national strategy to leverage ICT to deliver quality government services across all governorates, especially in remote and underserved areas, and recognizing the pivotal role of IT in strengthening health service infrastructure, MCIT is advancing digital transformation in the health sector through the Telemedicine Initiative.

Objectives:
• Enhancing the quality of healthcare services by leveraging technological solutions and telemedicine applications to expand reach to medical services across all governorates, with a focus on remote areas.
• Facilitating access to medical care by connecting health units in remote areas with central units in
university hospitals and major hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health, allowing patients to access high-quality medical service by expert doctors.
• Reducing the burdens and costs associated with traveling to hospitals in major cities, thereby facilitating the provision of healthcare services and ensuring equitable access for all citizens nationwide, with a particular emphasis on increasing healthcare availability in remote and underserved areas.
