Panel session «International settlements in BRICS national currencies: main opportunities and challenges»
The development of trade and economic cooperation in BRICS countries requires increasing the share of settlements in national currencies or the establishment of effective financial platforms.
The latter is constrained by the insufficient development of the appropriate financial infrastructure that impedes trading partners to make transactions in BRICS national currencies efficiently.

  • What are the main opportunities for BRICS countries to extend the role of national currencies in international trade?
  • What are the main risks for national financial sectors in BRICS countries while increasing the volume of settlements in national currencies?
  • What are the main challenges in pursuit of widening the use of BRICS national currencies in international settlements?
  • What are the main challenges in developing the effective and feasible payment infrastructure for BRICS?
