Showcasing Circular Economy and Township Economy at work through integration of Northern Wastewater Treatment Works with Joburg Water Farm in the same vicinity.
The project upcycles the effluent from the Works to fertigate dairy pastures on the Farm to produce organic milk and milk products for the township market as well as developing skills for township women and youth.
It includes a biogas plant which plays a crucial role in sustainable energy production, utilizing organic waste materials to generate renewable biogas.
In addition to digestate, a by-product of biogas production, which is a game-changer for organic fertilizers and sustainable agriculture!
This Project is an opportunity to:
• Rehabilitate the NWWTWs biogas CHP back to operation.
• Use of LR Civil Farm as a Campus for Centres of Excellence (CoE) and
skills training facilities.
• Participation in the planned Lanseria Smart City Project enabled by
technologies.
