GUARO FARMS designs builds and manages micro-factories in 20-foot shipping containers that process spices and herbs into essential oils at the farm gate. our factories are strategically distributed within walking distance of groups of 500 farmers, reducing post-harvest losses, ensuring product quality, and empowering women who cultivate spices in Ethiopia. Essential oil production with a high mass-to-yield ratio needs large plant inputs to produce small quantities of oil. aggregation of produce is necessary for the viable production of essential oils and processing is best done close to cultivation to minimize oil losses. our distributed micro crude distillation factories in herb-growing belts reduce weight significantly and churn out small quantities of essential oils eliminating the need for long-distance transportation and reducing the risk of spoilage and waste. by buying directly from farmers, we give them a fair price for their produce.
