Kidney disease is a significant public health issue affecting millions worldwide, with particularly severe implications in low- and middle-income regions.
In South Africa, chronic kidney disease (CKD) prevalence is on the rise, driven by increasing rates of hypertension, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS. Estimates suggest that approximately 15% of the adult population suffers from some form of kidney disease, with many cases going undiagnosed until advanced stages.
Across the African continent, CKD affects about 13-18% of the population, while globally, it affects about 10% of the population.
Chronic kidney disease poses a significant health challenges and financial burdens if not managed effectively. Early identification and proactive management can dramatically reduce complications, improve patient health,
and lower long-term healthcare costs. Our Proposed program focuses on a series of screenings to identify at-risk individuals and provide them with tailored management plans, continuous education and monitoring support through a robust online platform and virtual consultations.
