The BRICS Women’s Business Alliance convened its Annual Session on October 19, 2024, in Moscow, bringing together entrepreneurs and influential women leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
The general partner of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance series of events is Sberbank PJSC, Russia’s largest bank and a leading global financial institution.
The strategic partner of the Contest is another leader of Russia’s banking industry Gazprombank (Joint Stock Company).
The session highlighted the progress made by the BRICS WBA over the past year of Russia’s presidency in the association and set the stage for future collaborations aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs across the BRICS nations. During the event, heads of the BRICS WBA Working Groups presented comprehensive reports on their initiatives and projects for the year. The discussions underscored the commitment of the alliance to fostering an inclusive business environment that supports women in leadership and entrepreneurship.
Three key documents were unveiled at the session:
–BRICS Women’s Business Alliance Annual Report: this document detailed the achievements of the alliance over the past year, showcasing successful initiatives that have enhanced networking opportunities and provided resources for women entrepreneurs across member countries.
–“Care Economy. The BRICS White Paper”: a significant focus of this year’s session was the care economy, which addresses the vital role of caregiving in economic growth. The BRICS White Paper outlines strategies for integrating care work into national economies and emphasizes policies and practices that support women who provide these essential services.
–Compendium “BRICS Women’s Startups Contest. Best Projects”: highlighting innovation and entrepreneurship, this compendium features standout startups led by women from the BRICS nations. It serves as a resource for aspiring entrepreneurs and investors looking to support female-led ventures.
These documents will be handed over by Anna Nesterova, Global Chairperson of the BRICS WBA, to the heads of BRICS states at the summit in Kazan.
As the session wrapped up, participants expressed optimism about future collaborations and progressive development. The alliance aims to continue building on this momentum, fostering partnerships that empower women and drive sustainable economic growth across the BRICS space.
