On April 3, 2026, during an official visit to Russia, Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, met with representatives of the Russian business community.
The meeting was attended by Hamdy Shaaban Abdelhalim Mohammed, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Russian Federation, Alexey Matushansky, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Galina Volkova, Head of the Russian Chapter of the Working Group on Inclusive Economy of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance, representatives of the Moscow Export Center, Russian industry associations, and the Egyptian Trade Mission in Russia.
Opening the meeting, the Minister emphasized the high level of Russian-Egyptian relations, both political and economic, noting the personal involvement of the leaders of two countiries in developing bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to developing business ties between Russia and Egypt.
During the meeting, Galina Volkova presented an important social project to create a system of local clusters in Egypt and other BRICS countries for the production of special orthopedic footwear, including for diabetics. This project aims to develop accessible infrastructure for the prevention and treatment of complications of chronic diseases and the formation of a sustainable model of socially oriented production.
The proposed initiative generated keen interest among the meeting participants. The Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized its special significance for the country and expressed his willingness to personally oversee the project’s implementation.
