Anna Nesterova, the Chairperson of the Russian Chapter the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance, spoke at the extended-format meeting of the 16th BRICS Summit.

Addressing the heads of state and government of the BRICS member countries, Anna Nesterova reported on the work, key projects and initiatives of the Alliance for 2024. According to the report of the Russian Chapter Chairperson, one of the main tasks of the Alliance this year was to ensure the fastest and most comfortable inclusion of representatives of new countries on the Alliance’s agenda. The implementation of this task was largely facilitated by the launch of  the Common Digital Platform, which the Alliance has been working on since 2021.

“On this portal, women entrepreneurs can get all the necessary information about the Alliance itself, about its projects and initiatives, identify their business interests and establish direct business contacts with partners from other countries, become part of the large and diverse BRICS business community. The platform has already brought together over 2,000 entrepreneurs from 30 countries. In addition, it has become a “showcase” for more than 1,000 women’s projects and initiatives,” said Anna Nesterova.

The flagship event of the Alliance this year was the first BRICS Women’s Entrepreneurship Forum, which took place on June 3-4 in Moscow and gathered over 400 delegates from 30 countries . Of no small importance was the first BRICS Women’s Startups Contest, which was attended by over a thousand women from 29 countries.

In her report, Anna Nesterova separately noted the work to expand the Alliance’s representative offices and the opening of regional offices in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the year of the Russia’s BRICS Presidency.

“We are confident that the geography of such BRICS WBA representative offices will expand. Their work is primarily aimed at building partnerships with women entrepreneurs from countries outside BRICS, finding common ground and opportunities for implementing joint initiatives,” Anna Nesterova stressed.

Following the meeting, the heads of state were presented with a number of documents of the Alliance for 2024, in particular, the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance Annual Report, which outlines the main results of the Alliance work and information on its key projects, the White Paper on the Care Economy, as well as a Compendium dedicated to the best projects of the BRICS Women’s Startups Contest.

Vladimir Putin noted that the Alliance’s initiatives will be supported and expressed hope that their implementation will continue under the Brazilian presidency.

The leaders of Brazil, India, China and South Africa also noted the special role of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance in developing economic cooperation within BRICS.

The meeting was also attended by the President of the New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff, the Chairman of the Russian Chapter of the BRICS Business Council, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin, the Chairman of the BRICS Interbank Cooperation Mechanism, the Chairman of the State Corporation “VEB.RF” Igor Shuvalov.
