Women’s health is a critical component of women-led development. Health of women, both physical and mental, is not just a personal concern but a cornerstone for the well-being of societies and nations. While prioritizing women’s health it is important to not just focus on reproductive health, maternal care but also on other non-communicable diseases/ conditions (anaemia, cervical cancer, auto-immune diseases etc) that are common among women and can be prevented. Investing in women’s health lays the foundation of a resilient nation. BRICS Virtual Roundtable on Women’s health – ‘Empowering Her Health’ will share successful interventions, policies and programs that have effectively addressed women’s health issues in various regions and facilitate collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
The initiative was presented to the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance members in the working group meeting held in April 2024 and is at the stage of ideation.
The idea is to bring a paradigm shift in prioritizing women’s health, urging women to make preventive healthcare a priority. Stakeholders from the government, healthcare industry, civil society, and women achievers, along with key opinion leaders can be brought to the table for a multifaceted discussion on addressing the critical aspects of women’s health and empowerment.
Key highlights of the proposed Roundtable –
- Showcasing Successful Interventions: Highlight impactful programs from BRICS nations that have improved women’s health metrics, accompanied by case studies.
- Facilitating Cross-Collaboration: Establish partnerships among participants to share best practices and foster ongoing dialogue beyond the Roundtable.
This Roundtable can aid the BRICS nations to analyse gaps and co-create frameworks with measurable goals for implementing successful interventions in various regional contexts.
