BRICS WBA South Africa proudly welcomes Ms. Maria Muhari, a newly appointed Board Member of BRICS WBA South Africa NPC, as she officially assumes key leadership roles within the Alliance.

Ms. Muhari takes over from Chairperson Zulu as the Head of the Inclusive Economy Joint Working Group, representing South Africa, and will also lead the ESG Working Group on behalf of the country.

Ms. Muhari is a highly qualified executive leader and electrical engineering professional with more than 20 years of experience across infrastructure development, governance, security services, and social impact initiatives. She holds a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, is a Trade-Tested Electrician, and is currently completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) — a powerful combination that integrates technical expertise with strategic business leadership.

As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hloyasane Electrical Technologies Group, Ms. Muhari has led complex electrification, substation, reticulation, and high-voltage infrastructure projects in alignment with Eskom and municipal standards. Her leadership has encompassed project execution, financial oversight, contract management, risk governance, and regulatory compliance, all of which are central to strong ESG performance.

Her professional accomplishments are matched by extensive governance and board leadership experience. Ms. Muhari is the Founder and Chairperson of Women of Impact SA and Hloyasane Centre of Hope, organisations dedicated to women’s economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, victim support, disability services, and early childhood development. In recognition of her impact, she was awarded the Women Empowerment Champion Award at the Africa Women Summit in 2023.

Ms. Muhari’s blend of technical qualifications, executive leadership, and community-centred governance positions her exceptionally well to advance the objectives of the Inclusive Economy and ESG Working Groups within BRICS WBA. Her appointment strengthens South Africa’s contribution to the Alliance and reinforces BRICS WBA’s commitment to inclusive, sustainable, and responsible economic growth.

We proudly welcome Ms. Maria Muhari to the BRICS WBA family and look forward to her leadership and meaningful contribution as we advance women-led, inclusive, and sustainable economies across the expanded BRICS nations.
