BRICS WBA Russia Chapter Visits Velpharm-M
On July 12, 2023, BRICS WBA Russia Chapter visited the pharmaceutical plant Velpharm-M, the full-cycle medication-manufacturing plant located in Moscow, Zelenograd Administrative District.
The excursion for businesswomen around the plant was conducted personally by Lyudmila Shcherbakova, the Chair of the Board of Directors of "Velpharm" and the Head of Working Group on Healthcare of BRICS WBA Russia Chapter.
During the excursion, the participants of the visit were shown various production sectors, including medication-manufacturing workshops, the R&D center, the quality control center, the chemical-analytical laboratory and the packaging center. The visitors were also shown the latest equipment at all stages of medicines production, from preparation of the substance according to the recipe to packaging.
The businesswomen learned that the modern equipment installed at the plant can produce 120 pills and 27 capsules per second. The capacity of the enterprise allow the factory to produce up to 1.7 billion pills annually.
The plant is scheduled to produce medicines for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, chronic renal failure, respiratory diseases, cardiologic and other diseases. Many of these medications have never been produced in Russia before.
It is worth noting that in June this year during BRICS WBA visit to China Ludmila Shcherbakova signed an agreement with Chinese partners on cooperation in the construction of the third and fourth stages of the Velpharm-M plant.
