BRICS WBA Russia Chapter Holds Final Meeting in 2023
On December 11, 2023, the final meeting of BRICS WBA Russia Chapter took place in Moscow.
At the beginning of the meeting, Anna Nesterova officially introduced a new member of BRICS WBA Russia Chapter - Yuliana Slashcheva, Chairperson of the Board of Directors at SMF Studio (Soyuzmultfilm), Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Association of Animation Film Industry and CEO of the Gorky Film Studio.
During the final meeting, the Russian Chapter's members summed up the results of the work. In 2023, the Russian Chapter paid four business visits to BRICS countries, within the framework of which several cooperation agreements were signed.
In particular, in June, during a visit to China, Lyudmila Shcherbakova, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Velpharm-M LLC and a member of BRICS WBA Russia Chapter, solemnly signed a cooperation agreement with Chen Weichang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jiangsu Jieshun Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Co. Ltd , on the construction of the third and fourth stages of the factory in Moscow, Zelenograd Autonomous District.
Moreover, in August, a cooperation agreement on launching the BRICS Mobility Center was signed between Natalie Vershinina (United Migration Center) and Fikile Hlatshwayo (Africans Do Travel Pty, Ltd) on the sidelines of BRICS-AFRICA WBA Trade Conference in South Africa.
In June, the Russian Chapter traditionally held the session at the XXVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - "BRICS: on the Verge of Change", at which representatives of the WBA's National Chapters, business and government circles of BRICS countries discussed the prospects for expanding the association and strengthening international cooperation.
In August, the BRICS WBA Chairpersons handed over the 2023 Annual Report to the Heads of State of the five countries at the XV BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa,
At the final meeting, representatives of BRICS WBA Russia Chapter discussed the current status of projects and initiatives, the upturn of the work in the working groups, as well as the main events and business visits planned for 2024, the year of Russia's Presidency in BRICS.
Following the meeting, Anna Nesterova noted that the BRICS WBA Russia Chapter has a great responsibility not only in view of Russia's upcoming Presidency in BRICS, but also in view of the increase in the number of member-countries in BRICS.
From January 1, 2024, six new countries will officially join BRICS: Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and Argentina.
